Impact makes mouthguards from an impression of your own teeth. They send a kit to your home, you take the impression in about three minutes, mail it back, and their lab builds the guard. Impact is the official mouthguard of USA Boxing.
A custom guard stays put when you get hit, so you aren't clenching to hold it in, and you can breathe and talk to your corner through it. Their boxing and MMA guards are built thicker than the ones they make for helmeted sports.
You don't need one in your first months, when a boil-and-bite covers it. Impact is the upgrade once you spar every week, when a cheap guard keeps falling out, or when braces, gaps or crooked teeth need a guard shaped around them.

Sizing & fit notes
- The impression takes about three minutes. Follow their video and go slowly, because a bad impression is how you end up with a bad guard.
- Their lab takes about 14 business days once it has a good impression, plus shipping both ways. A 3-day rush lab service is available if you have a fight coming.
- They keep your impression on file for six months, so a replacement doesn't start from scratch.
- Keep a custom guard away from hot water. It's already shaped, and heat will warp it.
